Q & A with Maven Insurance & Advisory, Mount Gambier.

Backed by an advisory with offices in Geelong, Torquay, and Melbourne, Callum Currie launched the Mount Gambier office for Maven Insurance and Advisory. Drawing on local experience and insights, Callum shares how he helps businesses navigate risk with tailored solutions.

Q. How long have been employed by Maven?

A. Callum. I’ve been with Maven for five years, starting out in the Torquay office. From the beginning, the team struck me as genuine people who truly care about helping clients. When the chance came to expand into Mount Gambier, I jumped at it, opening the new office in January 2025.

Q. What services do you offer?

A. Callum. We’re more than just brokers — we focus on making insurance simple. A big part of what we do is client advocacy; if there’s ever a claim dispute, we’ll go into bat for the client. We work with small to medium-sized businesses, property owners, farmers, and tradies. Travel insurance is also a growing service.

Q. How is Maven unique?

A. Callum. We prioritise face-to-face contact — not just phone calls or emails. Our clients don’t have to worry about signing forms or contacting insurers — we take that off their plate. We’re happy to meet on-site or catch up over a coffee. I was born and raised here, so I have real skin in the game — it’s not just a name on a form. I know the people, the businesses, and I genuinely care. Last October, when a storm hit Casterton, I was out the next day checking damage, and helping with the clean-up. That’s what sets us apart — we’re right there when you need us.

Q. What can a new client expect when they meet with you?

A. Callum. We start with a full review of their business — what risk cover they have, where they can improve, and any uninsured risks they might be unaware of. Being approachable and building relationships is important, when clients trust you with their information it makes managing risk easier.

Q. What are your personal or business connections in the region?

A. Callum. I grew up in Casterton and went to school there before heading to university. The Casterton Sandford Football and Netball Club, where I still pull on the boots, is sponsored by Maven Insurance and Advisory. We have plans for further community involvement. Being immersed in the local community, I’m passionate about seeing the region and local businesses thrive.
