Textile treasures
Dedicated textile artisans are set to showcase their work at their annual exhibition which will run from May 23 to 26 at the Mount Gambier City Hall.
Twisted Threads textile group has been keeping some time honoured crafts alive and the usual handcrafted items will be on display and available for sale, including scarves, gloves, beanies, shawls, wraps, toys , upcycled garments and homewares.
All the items have been crafted by local textile artisans making this a chance to see the range of talents in our local community and find yourself or a friend or family member a truly unique item for your winter wardrobe or as a gift or perhaps to find inspiration to create something yourself with yarn, needles or patterns from our Big Yarn Sale.
The four day exhibition runs form 9am to 4pm from Thursday to Saturday and then from 10am to 2pm on Sunday.
The exhibition has an underlying theme of sustainability and upcycling and there will be live demonstrations of spinning, weaving and slow stitching.
It is also an opportunity to chat to the creators.
Twisted Threads are also running their usual raffle with all funds raised going to the In Home Hospice Care (IHHC) Mount Gambier as well as to the Friends of the Library, given the library hosts the group each week.
Twisted Threads help supply magazine subscriptions and other resources.
Entry to the exhibition is via the Cave Garden entrance.
