Time to dress to impress
Mount Gambier Breast Cancer Awareness Group set to celebrate 10th anniversary Pink Party
The old adage ‘time flies when you are having fun’ applies perfectly to this Friday night’s Mount Gambier Breast Cancer Awareness Group Pink Party.
The Glenburnie Racecourse hosted event is the 10th anniversary of the major fundraiser morphing into an evening event.
It started many years ago as a luncheon but in a bid to include even more people, it moved to a night time party 11 decade ago and has not looked back.
Just as it did as a luncheon, the Pink Party always sells out and sells out early and this Friday’s event has been no different with more than 230 people set to put their glad rags on and have night of fun.
Infrabuild is the major sponsor for the 2023 event, with Quickmix also adding $1000 to the coffers as a major sponsor.
Previous events have been themed with the opportunity for fancy dress but the 2023 milestone celebration is simply titled ‘Girls Just Wanna Have Fun’ with the night just a chance to dress to the nines.
The Mount Gambier Breast Cancer Awareness Group’s Helping Handbag program, which has been a mainstay project of the group since its inception, is in the spotlight again with the group having just put together another 40 bags, which are valued at $1000 each.
Jill Gilmore, a long standing member of the Mount Gambier Breast Cancer Awareness Group, said sadly the numbers of cases locally would be set to increase soon with the visit of the BreastScreen SA van to Penola and Mount Gambier over the next couple of months.
Jill also wanted to remind people there is now a simple online booking system to lock in an appointment while the van is in the Limestone Coast.
Finn’s Fine Foods are catering this Friday’s Pink Party with Brett Mashado spinning the tunes, with auction prizes and a raffle also on the agenda as part of the fundraising push.
