Port MacDonnell Community Complex a holiday hive of activity
The Port MacDonnell Community Complex was a hive of activity erlier this month as it delivered a two-week school holiday craft program to children and families.
Complex staff facilitated various activities including mask making, creating money boxes, growing ‘Hairy Harry’s’ and designing pencil pots, attracting 168 children across the fortnight. The weekly Tuesday morning StoryTime continued and remained popular with young children and parents where they read a book of the week, as well as singing, dancing and making a book related craft.
Community members were invited to a special Teddy Bears Picinic StoryTime during the second week of holidays which saw many much loved teddy bears arrive at the complex to join in on the fun. The Community Complex also had many visitors to the district tour through the Maritime Museum. The Museum is located within the complex and showcases historic artefacts and detailed descriptions of Port MacDonnell’s shipwrecks, lighthouse, wool washes, jetty, Little Penguin colony and other historically significant structures.
