THE Gold Coast Suns have handed former South Gambier footballer Oscar Adams a lifeline, giving the 2024 Glenelg Football Club SANFL premiership defender a second shot at an AFL career.

The Suns took the former St Kilda listed player at pick seven in the 2025 Mid-Season Rookie Draft.

The now 21-year-old earned his first AFL call up when he was taken at pick 51 in the 2021 NAB AFL Draft but was delisted in 2023, returning to Glenelg, where he had played some junior

The former South Gambier utility has played six games for Glenelg in 2025, averaging 9.5 disposals and 2.7 marks a game.

Gold Coast Suns national recruiting manager Kall Burns said the club was pleased to land a young and exciting prospect as they looked to cover the depletion of its key position sticks after some long term injuries were sustained earlier this season.

Adams hit the ground running his first weekend as a Sun, taking his place in the club’s VFL side and while they were soundly beaten, Adams racked up 14 disposals, including 12 kicks and two handballs, took nine marks and secured one clearance.
