Saturday par round winner Karen Panagopoulos

A RUN of par competitions have kept the women at the Blue Lake Golf Club busy with the 1st of four rounds of the Metro Bakery and Cafe sponsored Silver Salver played on March 18 and a par round on March 14

Fine weather saw 30 tee off in the Silver Salver and the winner in Division 1 was Sue Agars signing for a very consistent +2 off her 20 handicap.

Her outward score included two pluses and was mirrored on the inward nine with another two pluses, mixed with a handy number of squared holes.

Women’s captain Ronda Edwards followed playing to her 17 handicap finishing all square after four pluses on the outward nine and nine pluses on the inward, the rest either squared or minus.

Often in the winner’s circle, third was Karen Panagopoulos 2-down off her 20 handicap after five pluses, some squared and minus holes.

In Division Two the winner Trudy-Anne Doyle is another often in the winner’s circle.

Doyle did have to wait on a countback with second placegetter Carol Melhuish after both signing for +1.

Doyle played off 37 and her scorecard included five pluses and a mix of squared and pickups.

Melhuish played off 38 and had six pluses with squared and pickups recorded.

Another regular in placings Trudy Herbert was 2-down off her 32 handicap taking the third place voucher with five pulses recorded on her scorecard.

Nearest to the pin 2nd shot winners on the 16th were Josie Ashby (1.17) and Janine Dunn (.14).

Pro-shot winner was Rosemary Martland.

Annette Ford scored a birdie on the 15th and chip-in ferrets were recorded by Ronda Edwards 6th, Lyn Annand 14th, Beryl Mahoney 15th.

MARCH 14 RESULTS

Karen Panagopoulos was the winner after a three-way countback from Jayne Galpin and Wendy Burley all signing for +1. Panagopoulos played off 21 and scored six pluses, seven squared and five pickups.

Galpin off 18 scored exactly the same and Burley off 38 had five pluses overall. In the ball rundown were Lyn Annand 0, Karyn Coon-1 c/b Penny Hudson-1, Alison Mullan-2 c/b Sonia Solly.

Nearest to the pin Cherryl Hill (8.3) BF9 Wendy Burley.
