Ashby comes up trumps

A rescheduled Monthly Medal due to inclement weather at the end of last month was played in much better conditions last week with only a bit of fog to contend with before the sun added warmth to the day.
At the Blue Lake Golf Club 24 women contested the Judy Collins sponsored Medal Round and it was Josie Ashby taking the honours.
Once again the daily difficulty rating was +3 even though there was run on the fairways the course was setup to maximum length indicative of the high scoring with pars hard to come by.
The stroke competition also coincided with the 1st round of the Scotty’s Loader Services Mt Gambier President’s Trophy with Ashby also taking the top spot in Division One signing for 96/20/76.
With splits of 47/48 a par was recorded on the 2nd hole to be all square to her handicap on the front nine striking a bit of difficulty going five strokes over her handicap on the back nine.
Runner up Jaynee Oberer followed carding 105/27/78 with splits of 50/55 that included a par on the 5th hole also square on the front nine going seven over on the back nine.
Third was Geraldine Scott 105/26/79 after a countback with Dianne Perryman 101/22/79.
Scott had a par on the 5th in her splits of 54/51.
Division two winner was Trudy-Anne Doyle signing for 115/38/77 after splits if 58/57.
Runner up was Johanna Gogan 115/37/78 scoring a par on the 5th in her splits of 57/58.
Returning from the sunshine up North, Lynda Nannings was pleased with her third prize voucher after signing for 113/34/79 with splits of 56/57.
Nearest to the pin 2nd shot on the 16th winners were Lee-Anne Medhurst (.67) and Vivienne Wilson (4.60).
The pro-shot winner on the 5th was Helen Stratford (3.33).
Least putts winners were Division 1 Ronda Edwards 30 countback Sally Houlihan and Scott, Division 2 Gogan 30. Chip-in ferret prizes went to Oberer 1st/7th, Edwards 4th, Scott 11th, Bev Pascoe 18th.JUNE 28 RESULTS
The 17 women teeing off certainly felt the brunt of winter contending with showers on and off for most of their stableford round.
The eventual winner was Vivienne Wilson with 31 points off her 35 handicap, four three-pointers in her splits of 16/15.
Lesley McPherson followed carding 30 points off her 34 handicap after starting off with a four-point par on the 1st along with two three-pointers and accumulating 19 points on the front nine but only able to score 11 points on the back nine.
Third on the podium was Bev Pascoe with 29 points off her 30 handicap her splits of 16/13 included a par on the 5th and three-pointers.
In the ball rundown were Janine Dunn 28 points countback Karyn Coon, Lyn Annand and Dianne Perryman. The pro-shot winner was Karen Panagopoulos (1.95) with a birdie and the BB9 winner was Dunn.
