Winners of 4th round of Short course Trophy - Division 2 Bev Pascoe, Johanna Gogan and Division 1 Josie Ashby & Dianne Perryman

THE nine women that took notice of the predicted weather for last Wednesday were spot on and enjoyed a wind and rain free round of golf at the Blue Lake Golf Club while the rest wished they had taken a chance, fearing the 24 hours of almost continual rain the day before was not going to dissipate.

The course held up exceptionally well and scores were pretty good for the 4th round of the Grant and Dianne Perryman sponsored Short Course Trophy.

The stableford format was also appreciated and in Division One Josie Ashby claimed the honours with 33 points off her reduced handicap of 10.

There were pars on the 7th and 8th holes in her 13 points on the outward nine coming home in fine style posting five pars in her 20 points.

Ashby did have to wait on a countback as Dianne Perryman also signed for 33 off her 12 handicap.

There were pars on the 1st, 8th, 16th, 17th and 18th in her splits of 17/16.

Division Two winner Johanna Gogan mastered the short course posting a excellent 37 points off her 24 handicap with splits of 18/19 that included a par on the 9th hole, two three-pointers and zero wipes.

Runner up Bev Pascoe wasn’t far behind with 35 points off her 19 handicap with a run of pars on the 5th, 6th, 10, 11th and 18th and one wipe in her splits of 16/19.

Nearest to the pin 2nd shot on the 2nd winners were Ashby (1.49) and Gogan (3.93) and the pro- shot winner on the 5th was Karen Panagopoulos (9.40) with a birdie prize on the 14th to Ronda Edwards and a chip-in ferret prize to Lyn Gill on the 2nd.

JULY 19 RESULTS

Once again it was a case of the early morning tee off times getting the worst of the day with heavy downpours accompanied with some 30km-plus wind gusts causing some departing their round early.

The later tee times were a lot better with no rain and sunshine albeit was very heavy underfoot.

The overall scores were indicative of all the challenges and the daily difficulty was a +3.

The best score of the day was Caroline Davey posting 30 points off her 45 handicap and included four three-pointers in her 14/16 splits.

Next was runner up Judy Hunter with 29 points off her 41 handicap registering a fine six three-pointers in her 15/14 splits followed by Leisa Alderson who tried hard off her 24 handicap scoring 27 points with splits of 15/12.

The ball rundown included Wendy Burley 26 points, Lee Anderson and Allison Mullan both 25 points. Dianne Perryman had the BF9 score.
