Atkin wins highgun award
The Mount Gambier Gun Club held its monthly competition on October 12 in fine and sunny conditions with some slight winds later in the day.
The dedicated shooters were able to obtain some high scores and shoot offs were needed to ascertain some of the winners.
The opening event was the Jens Hotel 50 Tgt Skeet Championship Qualifier.
This was enthusiastically shot with competitors showing off their skills.
Kevin Mules in fine form 49/50 won AA from Ken Atkin 47/50, Andrew Hoare 47/50 took out the A Grade from Liz Rymill 47/50, Jamie Dunn 43/50 won B from Gavin Height 46/54, Steve Chambers 44/50 easily won C Grade from Brian Spring 45/55.
The O G Roberts and Co 25 Tgt Balltrap Championship was up next and this event, that requires quick reflexes and accuracy, was exceptionally well shot.
Gavin Height 44/47after a shoot off just won AA from Jamie Dunn 43/47, Max Medhurst 33/36 just edged out Ken Atkin 32/36 to win A, Scott Fleming 22/25 won B from Daniel Robinson 21/25 ,Reece Fleming 22/25 in fine form just outshot Peter Klieve 19/26 to take out C Grade.
The Mustart Electrical 20 Tgt Pointscore Championship was the next event with shooters applying their accuracy skills.
Warren Lindner 59/60 won AA from Gavin Height 57/60, Ken Atkin 64/66 won A after a quick shoot off from Ted Bond 62/66, Scott Fleming 59/60 just edged out Denis Blok 58/60, to win B, after a quick shoot off John McIntyre 61/66 just won C from Ricki Kelly 58/66.
The last event was the Creek Livestock 25 Tgt Handicap.
Jamie Dunn with a perfect 26/26 won from Mick Little 30/31, Andrew Jenkins 29/31, Tom Jenkins 33/34 folowed up with Darren Murrell 32/34.
The South East Autotrade Overall Highgun over the four events was tied between Ken Atkin and Andrew Hoare with Ken 149/160 eventually taking the honours.
The Black Crow Club had seven donors this shoot being Shannon Megaw, Warren Lindner, Brian Case, Andrew Jenkins, Brian Spring, Mick Little and Andrew Hoare.
The Club has practice every Friday afternoon and the next competition will be held on November 9.
