Blue Lake ladies tackle stableford
The 26 women teeing off at the Blue Lake Golf Club last Wednesday certainly had their work cut out for them contending with 70km plus wind gusts, albeit it was useful when the wind was behind the hit.
The stableford competition was sponsored by She’s Apples Market and the one exceptional score of 39 points was posted by Josie Ashby who obviously handled the conditions with aplomb winning the top voucher for Division One.
Ashby is off a 23 handicap and her splits of 21/18 included four three-pointers on the outward nine and three on the inward with pars on the 2nd, 15th and 17th holes.
Runner-up was Jaynee Oberer with 33 points off her 29 handicap.
Her splits of 17/16 included three three-pointers and pars on the 5th and 16th with a pick- up on the 12th.
Third placegetter was Cherryl Hill signing for 31 points off her 26 handicap.
Hill scored on every hole in her splits of 14/17 that included three three-pointers.
Lee Anderson was well pleased with her Division Two win of a She’s Apples voucher posting 35 points off her 43 handicap.
Anderson’s 22 points on the outward nine was a great start but unfortunately an inward low of 13 points crushed what could have been.
Her scorecard included six three-pointers with a couple of pick-ups.
Bev Pascoe off 33 handicap scored 33 points to take the runner’s-up voucher after a countback with Johanna Gogan.
Pascoe’s splits of 17/16 included four three-pointers with a par on the 15th along with pick-ups on the 11th and 12th holes.
Gogan also had splits of 17/16 in her 33 points hence the countback. The outward nine included three three-pointers, a four pointer on the 2nd along with five three-pointers on the inward nine and five pick-ups overall.
Nearest to the pin 2nd shot on the 16th winners were Helen Stratford (2.45cms) and Johanna Gogan (1.9cms).
Plenty of chocolate bar vouchers were presented to those having chip-in ferrets, Stratford 3rd, Beryl Mahoney 6th, Pascoe 6th, 10th, 15th, Gogan 10th, Dianne Perryman 15th, Oberer 16th and Lynda Nannings.
