Bordertown duo shines in SE foursomes

Mount Gambier Golf Club hosts region-wide Champion of Champions event

The South East Foursomes Championships hosted by the Mount Gambier Golf Club was played in ideal weather earlier this month with the course in great condition.

Nine clubs were represented in the Champion of Champions event with the Bordertown pair of Anna Dawes and Sharon Leigh taking out the win.

The Championship Foursomes was also won by Dawes and Leigh with a gross score of 85 while Leanne Hunt and Jennifer VanRijthoven from the Mount Gambier Golf Club runners up with 90.

The beautiful silver salvers, donated many years ago by Anne Ryan and Mary Harris, are very prestigious and much sought after by players.

In the handicap event the Millicent pairing of Kirsty Bailey and Karen Lock achieved a nett score of 71 and took home the silver rose bowls.

The runners up with a nett score of 75.5 was Anne Forman and Heather Tucker from the Robe Golf Club on a countback from Lizzie Clements and Mary Kentish of Mt Gambier Golf Club.
