Wednesday Stroke winners: Ronda Edwards, Johanna Gogan & Helen Stratford

A JAMMED packed day of golf greeted the women at the Blue Lake Golf Club last week with plenty to play for keeping the winter chills away.

First event was the May Monthly Medal, sponsored by member Bev Pascoe, and this was won convincingly by the women’s handicapper Dianne Perryman.

The daily difficulty on the course was rated +3 due to a long set-up and majority of scores returned were well over par.

The stroke competition also comprised the fourth and final round of the Captain’s Trophy, sponsored by Collins Court Butcher, and this was also won by Perryman in Division One, after signing for nett 71, 93 off the stick, playing to her handicap of 22.

In her outward nine 48 strokes Perryman pared the par three 5th and in her inward 45 strokes there was a par on the dog-leg par four 15th, even par front and back.

Vice captain Ronda Edwards (17) took the second place voucher posting 91 off the stick nett 74.

In her splits of 46/45 there were pars on the 5th and 11th holes finishing three over par overall.

Third on the podium was Helen Stratford signing for 100/21/79 with pars on the 5th and 17th holes in her splits of 51/49.

Division Two winner Johanna Gogan played off a 37 handicap posting 112/75 using the majority of her handicap strokes wisely with splits of 57/55 that included a par on the par three 5th.

Runner up Kristy Janeway played off a 34 handicap and scored nett 79 with 113 strokes off the stick, splits of 54/56 that included a par on the dog- leg 9th.

Third placegetter was Bernadette Pedlar 110/30/80 with splits of 54/56 and included a par on the first hole.

Nearest to the pin 2nd shot on the 14th hole winners were Perryman (1.41) and Pedlar (2.30).

Pro-shot winner on the 5th was Jaynee Oberer and least putts winner was Beryl Mahoney (27).

Chip-in ferret prizes were won by Mahoney 4th, Cherryl Hill 4th, Lyn Annand 3rd and Lynda Nannings 2nd/4th.MAY 24 RESULTS

Freezing temperatures certainly were cause for rugging up with beanies and hand warmers the order of the day for the early morning golfers.

Regardless of the conditions there were some excellent scores from the 21 women recorded in the 5th and final round of the Jetts Fitness Centre Mt Gambier Summer Trophy played in stroke format.

The winner and best score of the day came from Rosemary Martland 84/14/70, one under par and in her outward 42 strokes there were pars on the 1st, 2nd and 4th holes coming home with another 42 strokes including pars on the 12th, 14th, 15th and 17th.

Women’s captain Annette Ford was second 99/27/72 after a countback with Dianne Perryman 94/22/72.

Ford’s card had pars on the 5th 12th, 15th and 16th holes in her splits of 51/48.

Perryman took the third prize voucher, her card included a birdie on the 2nd and a par on the 14th in her splits of 48/46.

The ball rundown included Ronda Edwards nett 73 c/b Karen Panagopoulos 73 c/b Helen Stratford 73.

Nearest to the pin on the 5th winner was Lyn Annand (1.80), long drive winner Edwards and least putts Stratford.
