Call is out for new faces to tennis competition

September 28, 2025 BY

THE Mount Gambier & District Tennis Association (MGDTA) is excited to announce the start of the 2025-26 tennis season and is calling on players of all ages and skill levels to get involved in one of the region’s most enjoyable summer sports.

The senior competition will officially begin on Saturday, October 11, followed by the junior season starting on Saturday, October 18.

Matches are played on Saturdays, making it a perfect way to enjoy the weekend.

This season also marks the welcome return of Friday night games, giving players more opportunities to hit the court.

In addition to the regular competitions, the popular Fast4 format will be back — a quick, exciting version of tennis that is perfect for players looking for a fast-paced challenge.

Players will also enjoy improved night tennis experiences thanks to brand-new lighting at Olympic Park, which will enhance visibility and atmosphere for evening matches.

MGDTA encourages new and returning players to contact one of the many local clubs now to register their interest.

Tennis is a fantastic sport to play over summer — it’s social, competitive, and a great way to stay active.

For those looking to take their game to the next level, players can represent MGDTA in prestigious inter-association tournaments such as the Baker Shield and Ey Shield, with matches being held on the grass courts in Lucindale.

Whether you’re a seasoned competitor or picking up a racquet for the first time, MGDTA and our clubs offers a welcoming environment for everyone.

Contact your local club today to get involved in the 2025-26 season.
