Stableford winners: Bev Pascoe, Lynette Hirth, Lee Anderson, Carolyn Melhuish & Johanna Gogan

FIRST on the agenda at the Blue Lake Golf Club on May 7 was the quarter finals in the 2025 Women’s Handicap Championships.

In Division 1 top qualifer Rosemary Martland (14) versed 8th qualifier Helen Stratford (21) and unfortunately Martland had to retire on the 9th hole due to illness allowing Stratford to move into the semi finals.

Next was Trudy Herbert (29) versus Josie Ashby (21) with Herbert being given eight extra handicap strokes she made good use of them and was only 1-down at the turn to the 10th hole but Ashby was not letting her gain ahead making a move on the 14th to be 2-up.

Herbert wasn’t going away winning the 15th and squaring the next three holes but it was Ashby hanging onto the 1-up lead taking the win on the 18th.

Sue Agars (21) versus Ronda Edwards (17) followed and Agars received an extra four handicap strokes but it was Edwards setting the tone paring and winning the first five holes adding the 7th, 8th and 9th after Agars had wins on the 5th and 6th.

Turning to the back nine Agars managed to win the 12th and three squared holes but it was Edwards all the way holding onto the initial lead to win 5/4.

The final grouping of Jaynee Oberer(27) and Dianne Perryman (21) saw Oberer with six extra handicap strokes also making good use of them to be 1-up going to the 10th hole after four wins to Perryman’s three.

The lead see-sawed with Perryman putting the foot down to have another five wins to Agars one with a couple squared to finish 2/1.

Unfortunately due to unforseen circumstances there were no quarter finals for Division Two with Lee Anderson versus Dianne Allen and Bev Pascoe versus Lynda Nannings going straight to the semi finals.

The Division One semi final draw is Helen Stratford v Josie Ashby and Ronda Edwards v Dianne Perryman.

There was a stableford competition for those not in quarters and the winner was Karen Panagopoulos scoring 34 points off her 20 handicap with three-point pars on the 1st, 2nd, 5th, a four-point par on the 6th to finish with three-point pars on the 11th, 14th and 15th holes in her splits of 18/16.
