Ladies contest final round of the Marlene Lingham Memorial Stableford Trophy

Another Wednesday of golf in the sunshine mixed with a chilly breeze was appreciated by the women teeing off at the Blue Lake Golf Club for the 5th and final round of the Marlene Lingham Memorial Stableford Trophy proudly sponsored by the Blue lake Bar and Bistro last week.

Ronda Edwards, off a 16 handicap, was well placed with 34 points to top the podium in Division One.

Her card included pars on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th in the 17 points accumulated on the outward nine and pars on the 14th and 15th in the 17 points on the inward nine with no scrubs recorded.

Second place-getter was Josie Ashby signing for 31 points off a 23 handicap and splits of 13/18 recording pars on the 4th, 12th and 16th holes along with scrubs on the 3rd and 14th.

Captain Geraldine Scott was third after a countback from Karen Panagopoulos both scoring 30 points. Scott off a 27 handicap had splits of 14/16 and included pars on the 5th and 16th.

Johanna Gogan is a regular in the Division Two prize winners and took the top prize voucher scoring 30 points off her 35 handicap. A highlight on her card was a birdie two on the downhill par three 5th earning her 4 points along with three three-pointers in her outward score of 18 points and unfortunately scrubs on the 13th and 17th holes reduced the inward score to 12 points.

Rose Case placed 2nd in the minor placings with 29 points off a handicap of 40. Her card included three three-pointers with splits of 14/15.

Third was Bev Pascoe with 27 points off a 33 handicap and splits of 15/12 with a par on the 5th hole. Nearest to the pin 2nd shot on the par three 14th hole winners were Carol Megaw (Div 1) and Pascoe (Div 2). The pro-shot winner was Gogan resulting from a birdie on the 5th and chip-in ferret prizes were won by Lee-Anne Medhurst 13th and Lyn Gill 15th.

This week’s competition is the 4th and final round of the Grant and Dianne Perryman Short Course Trophy in stroke format.

AUGUST 12 RESULTS

It was a weather change back to wet, wintery, heavy underfoot conditions for the Saturday stroke competition and was indicative of the smaller than usual number of women teeing off.

Winner Christine Morrison was the only one to play to her handicap 104/32/72. Her splits of 53/51 included pars on the 2nd and 15th.

New member Karyn Coon 124/45/79 would have been pleased to place second with splits of 58/66, 13 shots better on the inward nine. Third was Helen Stratford 101/21/80 with splits of 51/50. The long drive winner was Rosemary Martland and nearest to the pin winner Josie Ashby.
