Ferrazzola & Bourn combine for victory

MOUNT Gambier District Indoor Bowls Association held its fourth Association championship earlier this month – the Faith Jewellers / David & Jane Peacock Mixed Pairs.

The reigning champions did not enter, leaving 22 entries to compete for the 2025 Mixed Pairs title.

The combined combination of Blue Lake Bowlers Josh Ferrazzola and Glenburnie’s Serena Bourn met the Moorak Pair of Nola Spencer and Val Alma in the first semi final, with Josh and Serena’s team winning 10 shots to 3.

In the second semi final the combined team of Veronica Opie from Saints and Stephen Von Duve from Post-Tel defeated the team from Post-Tel of Zac Pearson and Fiona Pearson 8 shots to 1.

Von Duve’s and Bourn’s teams met in the final, both teams playing exceptionally well and both deserved to make the final.

In the final Veronica and Steve scored one on the first two ends, before Josh and Serena scored two shots on the third end to tie things up.

They then scored three shots on the fourth end and then lost two shots on the fifth.

On The sixth end Josh and Serena scored one shot giving them a two shot lead on the last end but Veronica and Steve were only able to score one shot on the last end to give Josh and Serena victory to take out the 2025 Faith Jewellers/David & Jane Peacock Mixed Pairs Championship 6 shots to 5.

The consolation semi finals were contested between Jos Breuker and Heather Glynn from Kongorong who defeated the Moorak Pair of Caroline Walters and Gary Walters 10 shots to 7 and the second semi final saw the Saints team of Garry Fox and Jennifer Bowering defeat Kevin Burn from Post-Tel and Shirley Gifford from Saints 5 shots to 3.

The Kongorong team of Jos and Heather prevailed to beat Garry and Jennifer in the final of the consolation to win 7 shots to 6.
