THE 2025 P.M. Cutbush Interhouse Swimming Carnival took place at the Wulanda Recreation Centre on February 13.

As defending champions, Gambier was determined to secure their second consecutive victory in this highly anticipated event.

Students showcased their skills in four championship events—freestyle, breaststroke, butterfly, and backstroke—as well as a series of entertaining novelty events such as Tug-o-War, Pool Noodle Relays, and the Ball Scramble.

One of the highlights of the day was the land-based Cornhole competition, which proved to be a crowd favourite, with many students excelling in this event.

The four Ironperson events, which combine running and swimming legs, were eagerly anticipated and saw competitors giving their best effort to complete the challenging races.

At the end of the day, Gambier emerged victorious, claiming the P.M. Cutbush Interhouse Swimming Carnival shield with a strong score of 140 points.

Mount placed second, Tower took third and Lake finished fourth.

Special sports coordinator Abbey Duncan said special recognition was due to the House Captains and Vice-Captains for their dedication and leadership throughout the event, ensuring students made it to each race and performed at their highest level.

“The impressive level of student participation was particularly notable,” Miss Duncan said. “The success of the day demonstrated the enthusiasm and sportsmanship of the school community, ensuring the 2025 P.M. Cutbush Interhouse Swimming Carnival will be remembered for years to come.”
