Grubb takes medal
THIRTY-three ladies participated in April’s Monthly Medal Stroke Round plus putting competition on a perfect golfing day with the Mount Gambier Golf Club course looking pristine condition.
Long time member Val Grubb (Handicap 21) won the day and the Monthly Medal with a great score of 4 under her handicap – 90-21-69 nett.
Val’s split for the two nines was 42/48=90=69 nett, which included seven pars.
Complementing her great score Val had 28 putts to also win the putting competition.
In second place in Division 1 was Mardi Goodes (Handicap 21) continuing her consistent form with 49/44=93=nett 72.
Mardi’s back nine was very good and overall she carded six pars.
Playing to her handicap in Division 2 and taking out first place was Kate McCormick (Handicap 27) with 48/42=100=nett 73.
Kate’s great back nine contributed to her very good score.
Second placing in Division 2 was Mary Kentish (Handicap 30) with 58/48=106=nett 76.
Mary registered two pars – 15th and 18th Hole.
Nine balls were given out in the ball rundown and went to Penne Saffin nett 73 – down to Yvonne Shirley nett 77.
The Pro Shot on the 8th, Par 3 Hole was won by Dianne Norman winning three balls.
The Best Back Nine was won by Mardi Goodes.
A Stableford Event was held in conjunction with the Stroke Round – Monthly Medal, with 8 Ladies competing with Gail Watson (Handicap 38) taking first place with 34 points.
Kathy Ewer, Hope Bliss and Bev Pedlar all received a ball for their efforts.
APRIL 4 RESULTS
In perfect conditions 19 ladies competed in a stroke or a stableford round with Gemma Winterborn (Handicap 32) taking out the honours with six under her Handicap – 46/53=99=nett 67.
Gemma recorded a birdie on the 6th, Par 3 Hole.
Always enjoying her golf Carol Smith (Handicap 23) took out second placing with a very consistent 48/49-97=nett 74.
Leanne Hunt, Trudy Johnson, Jan Shanahan, Sharran Waters and Jess Parsons won balls in the ball rundown.
Pro Shot on the 8th, Par 3 Hole went to Marie Douglas and the NTP on the 16th Par 3 Hole to Jan Shanahan.
Three women played a Stableford event and with 28 points Hope Bliss took out first place with Sue McPherson winning a ball with 26 points.
