Herbert claims medal
The monthly medal competitions were wrapped up last week for the women at the Blue Lake Golf Club and the winner was Division Two’s Trudy Herbert.
Throughout the year the events have been sponsored by life member Judy Collins, Grant and Dianne Perryman and Bev Pascoe.
Herbert will join eight other medal winners to play off in the medal of medals for the right to have their name engraved on the prestigious Patricia Fallas plaque.
Pat was a life member and unfortunately passed away this year.
The nine stroke rounds also go towards the best three of nine to qualify for the club championships with the quarters to be played on October 30.
The stroke competition also included the fourth and final round of the President’s Trophy sponsored by Scotty’s Loader Services Mt Gambier.
It was a dismal day weatherwise, consequently a smaller than usual field teed off and just to make things a little bit more challenging the greens had been cored making sinking those putts even more important.
Scores were indicative to conditions with Ronda Edwards winning the top voucher after a three-way tie with Rosemary Martland and Dianne Perryman all signing for nett 78.
Edwards is off 17 and in her outward 50 was six strokes over and tried to reel it in with 45 on the inward that included pars on the 14th and 16th holes.
Martland 46/46 off a 14 handicap was three over after the first nine holes with a par on the 5th to come home with pars on the 14th, 15th, 16th and 18th, four over.
Perryman 47/51 off 20 handicap had pars on the 2nd and 9th as well as a birdie on 5th.
Medal winner Trudy Herbert also took home the top voucher for Division Two signing for 104/31/75 and her outward nine of 52 strokes included pars on the par three 2nd and 5th holes to be all square going to the inward nine to score 54 strokes, four over.
Runner up was Lyn Annand enjoying another podium win with 112/36/76 after consistent nines of 56/56, followed by Lee Anderson with 121/43/77, her outward nine of 64 saw a few hiccups but her 56 on the inward nine were eight strokes better and a par on the 14th helped close the gap.
Nearest to pin 2nd shot on the 14th winners were Edwards (7.50cm) and Johanna Gogan (2.23cm).
Perryman was the pro- shot winner on the 5th after a birdie two.
Chip-in ferret winners were Herbert 1st, Perryman 4th, Karen Panagopoulos 14th and Gael Ford 18th.
