THE Pioneers Basketball Club is proud to share that outgoing head coach Richard Hill has been appointed to lead the inaugural NBL1 South Select Team in their upcoming NBL pre-season clash against the Adelaide 36ers.

The exhibition game will take place at the Wulanda Recreation and Convention Centre in Mount Gambier on Thursday, September 11, with tipoff at 7.30pm.

Fresh off being named the 2025 NBL1 South Coach of the Year, Hill’s appointment is a fitting recognition of his success, experience, and leadership throughout his 13 seasons with the Pioneers.

His track record of championship success and player development will set the perfect foundation for guiding the league’s emerging and established talent in this showcase event.

Joining Hill on the NBL1 South Select coaching staff will be: First Assistant Coach: Zach Moult (Kilsyth Cobras); Second Assistant Coach and Brent Reid (Geelong United).

NBL1 South League Manager Alison Cody said the appointments reflect the strength and depth of leadership across the conference.

“We’re thrilled to unveil a coaching group that perfectly represents the depth and quality of leadership within NBL1 South,” she said. “Having Richard Hill, our 2025 Coach of the Year, at the helm alongside rising talent Zach Moult and the experienced Brent Reid brings together experience, innovation, and connection to our clubs.

Pioneers Basketball Club team manager Deb Bowman will manage the team and will provide our athletes with the best possible environment to showcase themselves against the Adelaide 36ers.

The NBL1 South Select Team roster is currently being finalised and will feature a mix of emerging stars and proven performers from across the league.
