February Monthly Medal winner

DUE to the running of the annual Southern Ports Golf week and a large contingent from the Blue Lake Golf Club attending, the women’s numbers were a little depleted for the February Monthy Medal sponsored by life member Judy Collins and won by Rosemary Martland.

The first round of the Collins Court Butchers Captain’s trophy coincided with the Monthly medal and was played in a stroke format.

Also taking out the winning voucher from Collins Court Butcher’s for Division One Martland presented an exceptional scorecard showing an almost perfect back-nine of seven pars in her 37 off the stick.

The front-nine 43 strokes included pars on the 3rd and 5th holes. Martland plays off a 12 handicap.

Runner-up was women’s handicapper Dianne Perryman 92/19/73 after going to a countback with Trudy Herbert 101/28/73.

Perryman had splits of 48/44 and included pars on the 12th and 15th holes and adding a nearest to the pin 2nd shot prize on the 2nd of a ball.

Lyn Annand was the division two winner signing for 108/32/76 her scorecard showing a bit too much red ink but was still good enough for the win with splits of 55/53.

Runner-up Janine Dunn 111/34/77 with splits of 57/54 also showed a bit too much red ink but was able to just stay ahead of Trudy-Anne Doyle’s score of 117/39/78.

Perryman and Martland both tied for the least putts prize (26). Chip-in ferret prizes went to Beryl Mahoney 10th and 16th, Trudy Herbert 12th and Dianne Allen 15th.

FEBRUARY 22 RESULTS

It was a welcomed return to the podium for Kate Hommelhoff after taking the honours in a field of 18 women playing in the stroke competition coinciding with the 2nd Round of the Jetts Fitness Centre Mount Gambier sponsored summer trophy.

With the extreme temperatures expected it was the early golfers teeing off that had the better part of the day and Hommelhoff 97/28/69 certainly made the most of it winning the stroke competition and the Jetts Fitness voucher.

Her 50 strokes on the outward nine included a par on the 8th hole, indexed the second hardest for the women.

Pars on the 12th and 14th holes in her 47 strokes on the inward nine saw a three under her handicap finish.

Kristy Janeway 110/37/73 and Bev Pascoe 102/29/73 followed, going to a countback, with the former getting the nod. Splits of 58/52 for Janeway included pars on the 12th and 14th holes.

Three over on the outward nine after a bit too much red ink but making up on the inward nine. Pascoe had even nines of 51/51.

The other placegetters were 4th Dianne Perryman 93/19/74, 5th Julie Campbell 115/40/75 c/b 6th Lee Anderson 112/37/75.

Nearest to the pin winner was Helen Stratford (2.88), long drive winner Jayne Galpin and putting Perryman.
