Host club dominates open day

IT was another successful women’s open day at the Blue Lake Golf Club and a big thank you goes to the major sponsor Noel Barr Toyota Mt Gambier along with Pick Ave Bakery, She’s Apples Market, Bunnings Warehouse, Jip Jip Rocks Wine, Herbert Vineyard and the many generous donations.

Women’s captain Annette Ford thanked the great effort of the handicapper Geraldine Scott, greenskeepers and their volunteerers, Bill Burley and staff of Blue Lake Bar and Bistro and lastly to the valuable lady members Beryl Mahoney, Dianne Allen, Lyn Gill and Carol Megaw for organising and preparing morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea and all others helpers.

The 4 Ball Better Ball game was played by 86 women in pairs of two with lots of laughter and camaraderie the order of the day.

There were 13 clubs from around the Limestone Coast and the Western District of Victoria with many complimenting the excellent condition of the course.

At the conclusion of play eight of the top 10 winning teams were dominated by the Blue Lake teams showing their advantage if playing on their home course.

The winners were presented with their prizes by Noel Barr representatives Hamish with photos by Lara Kroger.
