Janeway lives every golfers’ dream

THE 4th and final round of the Marlene Lingham Memorial Trophy played in stableford format was played at the Blue Lake Golf Club in once again spring like conditions albeit a bit moist underfoot inhabiting the run on the ball at times with only one able to play to their handicap.

The big story of the day was Kristy Janeway having a hole in one on the par three downhill 5th hole, also the pro-shot hole, hence not only scoring five points but also winning a sleeve of balls kindly donated by Gary Noel Stevens for an eagle.

Janeway used a fairway wood with a Taylor Made soft speed ball and has only been playing competition golf for 18 months, giving hope for many wanting to achieve the same.

In Division One the winner was birthday girl, handicapper Dianne Perryman posting 33 points off her 22 handicap with pars on the par three 14th and 16th holes in her 16/18 splits and no pick ups recorded on her scorecard.

Runner up was women’s captain Ronda Edwards signing for 32 points off her 18 handicap that included a nice birdie four-point from a chip-in on the par three 2nd hole also taking out the NTP 2nd shot.

Her splits of 17/15 also included a par on the dog-leg 15th hole.

Following was Annette Ford scoring 31 points off her 27 handicap with pars on the 2nd and 14th holes in her splits of 17/14 with unfortunately a little too much red ink on her card.

Division Two’s Carol Downing was back in the winner’s circle scoring a fine 36 points playing to her handicap of 34 with consistent nines of 18/18 that included a par on the 2nd, eight three-pointers and only three pick-ups.

Runner up was Janine Dunn with 31 points off her 36 handicap with splits of 15/16 that saw her receive four points on each of the pars she had on the 4th, a par 5 and 16th a par three along with another three-pointers in her final result.

Trudy-Anne Doyle was third on the podium also with 31 points forcing a countback with Dunn who had the better back nine score where countbacks are done.

Doyle off a 37 handicap had a par four-pointer on the 2nd hole and splits of 16/15.

Downing was NTP 2nd shot winner (.8cms) for her division.

The pro-shot winner on the 5th hole was Janeway adding to her prizes on what is now probably her favourite hole.

Edwards (2nd) and Beryl Mahoney (15th) win birdie prizes. Lynda Nannings (2nd), Bev Pascoe (4th/15th) Lee-Anne Medhurst (15th) Mahoney (15th) all win chip-in ferret prizes.

AUGUST 9 RESULTS

Twenty-two women fronted up for a stroke competition in conjunction with the Men’s 2nd Qualifying Round of the Handicap championships facing some tricky pin placements.

The winner was women’s captain Ronda Edwards signing for a pleasing 90/18/72 with 47 strokes on the outward nine that included pars on the 4th and 7th holes, then adding pars on the 10th, 11th and 17th holes in her inward 43 strokes.

Runner up was Jayne Galpin 96/22/74 scoring pars on the 2nd, 5th and 17th holes in her even splits of 48/48 followed by Carol Downing 110/35/75 third on the podium with a par on the 14th in her splits of 53/57.

Ball rundown winners were Helen Myers nett 76, Helen Stratford nett 77 c/b Annette Ford nett 77 c/b. NTP winner was Lee Anderson (2.33) and least putts Bev Pascoe.
