Jarrah shines at State titles
The South Australian Table Tennis Country Carnival was held over the June Long Weekend with teams from all over South Australia coming to compete.
The highlight was the performance of 11-year-old Jarrah Schaefer who returned home with an impressive trophy haul.
Saturday saw teams competing for a shield and while some of the Mount Gambier teams came close, it was the C Grade mixed team of Dapo Olutayo, Marga Steele and Ezekiel Coutts that snared trhe silverware.
Sunday saw players compete for Ratings Central points and Mount Gambier cleaned up the competition, winning two fifths of the games against seven other teams.
In the A Grade division, Leigh Barry brought home three winner trophies, Sirinat Sweet two trophies, and Katrina McPhee brought home one for her part in Women’s A Doubles.
Jedda Hardcastle, Youssef Malicdem, Marga Steele, Kevin Patzel and Ezekiel Coutts each brought home at least one trophy each but the standout player of the day was Schaefer, with wins in five categories and runner-up in the Under 18 singles.
