Johnson set to test handicapper

DUE to the very inclement weather a number of cancellations occurred with only 23 Ladies participating in the Monthly Medal/Stableford/Putting events held last Wednesday at the Mount Gambier Golf Club.

Winning the prestigious Monthly Medal (Stroke Round), once again playing very good golf, was Trudy Johnson (Handicap 15) with a Nett 72.

Trudy’s game consisted of 42/45=87=Nett 72 including eight pars – once again Trudy’s Handicap should come down for her next game.

Second placing went to Helen Gregory (Handicap 20) with a really consistent game comprising 48/48=96=76 Nett.

Helen could have had a great score but the 1st Par 5 Hole marred her card.

The ball rundown balls went to Helen McIntyre, Carol Davis and Jennifer Van Rijthoven and 2nd shots on the Par 3, 6th Hole went to A Grade Jennifer Van Rijthoven, B Grade Vicki Clarke and C Grade Linley Gray.

Pro Shot on the 8th Par 3 Hole was won by Faye Mainwaring and in the putting competition Bernie Jennings was the winner with 29 putts.

A stableford competition was held in conjunction with the stroke round with eight ladies opting to participate with the winner being Linley Gray with 33 points.

Two balls were received by Bev Pedlar and Jane Lamont in the ball rundown.

MAY 9 RESULTS

In mixed weather conditions 23 ladies played a stableford competition and Debbie Fowler (Handicap 27) took out the honours playing to her handicap with a split of 17/19=36 points. Debbie complemented her score with 4 points on the Par 5, 11th Hole.

In second place, just one point behind, was long hitting Janina Morrision (Handicap 19) with a split of 17/18=35 points and included seven three pointers registered on her card.

The recipients of a ball each in the ball rundown went to Josie Ashby 34 points down to Trudy Johnson (on a countback) with 30 points while the speciality prize went to Karen Forster for the Pro Shot on the Par 3 8th Hole.
