Kent emerges as best in a strong field
THE Mount Gambier Gun Club hosted the South Australian State 100 Tgt Compak Sporting Clays Championship earlier htis month in wet and windy conditions with a little bit of sunshine thrown in, the dedicated shooters were able to obtain some high scores in this highly competitive event .
There was two layouts of five traps set up whereby each squad shot 25 targets on each and then each layout was modified for the next round giving the competitors a challenging variety
The opening round was of 25 targets was well shot with Jeremy Kent in fine form of accurate shooting the only perfect 25/25 with other shooters close with 24s.
The next wave in saw Joe Densley and Jamie Dunn shoot a perfect 25/25 with other shooters close with 24s and down and then in the last wave of 25 targets with the light failing Jamie Dunn and Gavin Dyson showed their accuracy skills each with a 25/25 and others closely following.
After the 40 competitors had shot their 100 targets Jeremy Kent with a credible score of 94/100 took out the overall winning honors and after a shoot off Joe Densley 103/110 successfully won AA from Jamie Dunn 100/110.
Janette Densley with 83/100 just won A from Rolf Bugden 82/100, Rowan Murphy 78/100 just edged out Duane Dyson 77/100. Harry Simson 77/100 successfully won C from Robert Simson 65/100.
Veteran Rolf Bugden 82/100 just edged out Ernie Scheidl, Janette Densley 83/100 won Ladies from Nicola Dunn and Harry Simson won the State Junior Title with 77/100 from Reece Fleming ..
