Khanacross win for Telford
A lazy cool breeze accompanied by a little sunshine gave the field of 20 starters a good reason to be in their warm cars for Round 4 of the 2024 SEAC Khanacross series, held earlier this month at the Millicent Saleyards complex, under director Paul Height.
Josh Munn scored the coveted number 1 for the day, allowing him a “fresh” track for each test to show what the well campaigned Datsun 180B SSS was capable of.
Sean Telford has taken to Motorsport like a duck to water, having purchased a Mazda 3 from Ebay and having a go this year, he is doing well, getting fastest time for this first test, followed by Jason Sims, Phil Wilson, Harry Bliss, Paul Razum, Henry Sims, Damien Wilson (cone penalty costing FTD) Scott Bradley, Dylan Maloney (cone) Blair Meek (cone) for the 10 fastest.
Same test, second run, Max Viitanen made amends for his WD on the first attempt and got the best run from Dillan Young, Damien Wilson, Harry Bliss, Sean Telford (similar time to his first run), Jason Sims, Peter Gandolfi, Paul Razum, Scott Bradley and Phil Wilson the top 10 of this run.
Same layout, driven in the reverse direction, Max Viitanen again showed the rest of the field a clean pair of “tail lights”, Sean Telford, Phil Wilson, Jason Sims, Dylan Maloney, Paul Razum, Henry Sims, Dillan Young, Scott Bradley and Geoff Wilson the 10 Quickest,
Same test, second run, Damien Wilson had a clean run and made it the quickest for this test, Sean Telford chasing, Phil Wilson, Cohen Hamilton, Dylan Maloney, Jason Sims, Scott Bradley, Paul Razum, Justin Devlin and Geoff Wilson for the 10 best.
A Small change to the simple but tricky layout and Max Viitanen stopped the clock with the best run, from Sean Telford, Dillan Young, Harry Bliss, Peter Gandolfi, Paul Razum and Damien Wilson tied for 6th, Cohen Hamilton, Jason Sims and Justin Devlin rounding out the top 10.
Second run at this layout, Max Viitanen made it to the top of the score sheet again, Dillan Young chasing, Sean Telford next, Damien Wilson, Harry Bliss, Peter Gandolfi, Paul Razum, Jason Sims, Geoff Wilson and Blair Meek 10th.
Same test, reverse direction and Max Viitanen again set the time to beat with a good line through the maze of witches hats, Dillan Young, Sean Telford, Damien Wilson, Peter Gandolfi, Paul Razum, Geoff Wilson, Justin Devlin, Scott Bradley and Phil Wilson 10th.
Same layout, second run Dillan Young pipped Max Viitanen for the quickest run by 9/100ths, Damien Wilson, Sean Telford, Paul Razum, Peter Gandolfi, Jason Sims and Harry Bliss equal 7th, Phil Wilson and Scott Bradley the top 10.
Layout change made, Dillan Young made the top of the timing sheet for this test, Harry Bliss, Jason Sims, Sean Telford, Peter Gandolfi, Phil Wilson, Paul Razum, Scott Bradley, Damien Wilson and Blair Meek the 10th on this run.
Second pass, Max Viitanen got all the gaps on this run and set the time to beat, from Dillan Young, Harry Bliss, Damien Wilson, Sean Telford, Peter Gandolfi, Justin Devlin, Cohen Hamilton, Paul Razum and Geoff Wilson rounding out the top 10.
Director Height set up the final change with a Dual Lap of the “tricky” layout and it “caught” quite a few out with the extra effort needed to “miss” those dreaded cone penalties with nearly half the field getting a red mark (or two) driving that little bit harder.
Dillan Young made it clear all the way and posted the time for others to beat.
Sean Telford a second behind for second place, Harry Bliss next, Paul Razum, Peter Gandolfi, Max Viitanen, Jason Sims, Justin Devlin, Dylan Maloney and Scott Bradley 10th.
Final run for the Day, Reverse direction, Max Viitanen made the top time slot from Dillan Young, Harry Bliss, Sean Telford and Paul Razum tied for 4th, Justin Devlin, Scott Bradley, Jason Sims, Peter Gandolfi and Phil Wilson 10th.
