Legends to host masters championship
THE Annual Mount Gambier Baseball Masters is on again as it returns to the Mount for its 18th time on April 25, a fully sanctioned event by the Australian Baseball Federation.
Twelve teams will be competing in this year’s tournament and have been split into two divisions with both those divisions playing off for medallions.
Competing teams are Adelaide Aces 1 & 2, Adelaide L’aces, Playford City, Northern Aces Blue and Grey all from Adelaide while Alfredton will represent Ballarat for the second time and Diamond Dogs return from Melbourne.
Local teams Central and South Indians while the Legends will field 2 teams, Blue and Gold making up the 12 teams.
Northern Aces Blue, Alfredton, Diamond Dogs, Central, South Indians and Legends Blue make up Division 1 whilst Adelaide Aces 1 & 2, Adelaide L’aces, a women’s team, Legends Gold, Northern Aces Grey and Playford City comprise Division 2
Seven games will be played Friday with the first being Alfredton up against locals Legends Blue at 12.30pm on the main diamond.
Under lights at Blue Lake Sports Park baseball diamonds at 5.45 Playford City play Legends Gold and at 7.30 Northern Aces Blue play Diamond Dogs.
The Mount Gambier Softball Association has kindly agreed for the Legends to use their Diamond 2 again over the weekend which will bring all games into closer proximity to each other.
Games commence at 8am on Saturday morning with the final round robin games commencing Sundays draw also at 8am.
Finals will not be played in either division but will be awarded to the top three teams in each division.
Full catering and bar facilities are available at the baseball clubrooms all weekend.
