Local footy to be showcased
SEN Mount Gambier 1629, in collaboration with Times News Group, has aired a new show that will bring the best of local footy to the airwaves.
Sports broadcaster Matt Worland (left) has joined forces with former Geelong champion now Fox Footy regular Cam Mooney (right) for The Warm Up – a show that premiered in May this year in the Geelong market – and the duo has now brought The Warm Up to Mount Gambier.
The Warm Up provides SEN listeners with sports talk from across Australia and has a strong AFL focus during the season, as well as providing local content as it looks to showcase the local football leagues – Mid South East Football League; Kowree Naracoorte Tatiara Football League and the newly created Limestone Coast Football Netball League.
“We are excited to bring The Warm Up to Mount Gambier,” Mooney said. “I don’t like being too serious when talking about sport; there are so many radio and TV shows already doing that.
“So, Worlo and I have had lots of fun putting the show together each week. We’re looking forward to sharing our unique take on sport with Mt Gambier.”
For Worland, The Warm Up has marked a return to an on air role having previously worked with Crocmedia, which is now SEN, as a radio host and producer.
“The show is just so much fun to do. we hope that comes across to the audience,” Worland said.
“We are pumped to add the Mount Gambier region to our broadcast, and we look forward to covering all the local footy leagues next season.
“Our favourite segment in the show is by far The Marketplace. Moons and I buy and sell something from the world of sport. It’s a way of having a different look at the week in sport.”
