Local hockey talent on show
The Lower South East Hockey Association hosted 60 plus kids from Mount Gambier, Naracoorte, Tatiara and the Riverland in an Under 15 carnival on the Saturday of the King’s Birthday weekend. Teams were made up of a combination of players from different regions, playing off in a round robin style tournament with a grand final for the top two girls and boys sides at the end of the day.
The ultimate aim of the day for the participants is selection in the South Eastern Eagles side to take part in the zone carnival in Adelaide in October. It is all a part of Hockey SA’s new pathways program, which aims to feed kids from all over the State into the state selection camps to trial with the best hockey players in their age group with the best coaches in the state.
