Local riders shine at Victorian Carnivals
Five members of the Mt Gambier Cycling Club crossed the border at the end of last year to test their mettle in Shepparton, Bendigo, and Castlemaine, with stellar results across junior and senior ranks.
Representing the Limestone Coast with pride, Ethan McKenny and Amali Judd joined seasoned senior competitor Rob Mann in the senior division, while Molly Opperman and Xavier Farmilo flew the flag in the junior categories.
Molly Opperman, competing in the Under 15 division, delivered an outstanding performance, winning all but one of her races.
Her efforts earned her three Victorian State medals and two sashes, marking her as one of the standout athletes of the event.
Xavier Farmilo, recently stepping up to the Under 17 division, displayed impressive form by reaching the podium in every wheelrace he entered. His achievements demonstrate his rapid development and promising future in competitive cycling.
Amali Judd competed in the C Grade women’s division, showing grit and determination across all three days.
Ethan McKenny, racing among the senior men, proved his strength by placing in multiple events.
Rob Mann, a veteran rider and club stalwart, showcased his enduring skill and form as he competed alongside his younger teammates.
All five riders are coached by Rob Mann and Matthew Opperman through the Limestone Coast Regional Sporting Academy, which continues to develop top-tier cycling talent in the region.
The Mt Gambier Cycling Club congratulates its members for their incredible achievements and representation of the club on the Victorian stage.
