Lowe & Godden claim Millicent Bowls Club Ladies Pairs Championship

The Millicent Bowls Club held their Annual Championship Pairs competition last week. All games leading up to the grand final were played over 15 ends, with the players playing two of their four bowls and then changing ends which is known as a two and walk competition and takes about two hours to complete a game of 15 ends. All games were played in very cold, windy and sometimes wet conditions and by 4pm the field had been reduced to the final two pairs between the defending pairs champions Adriana and Sarah Ross and Judy Lowe and Carlene Gooden.

The grand final was played over 18 ends and by the sixth end Judy Lowe and Carlene Gooden were up by three shots. By the 11th end scores were all square at seven shots apiece but by the final end Judy Lowe and Carlene Godden finished the game leading by three shots with the final score 15 to 12 giving Judy and Carlene the title of Pairs Champions for 2022/23 Season.
