Christie McCourt showed great form at the weekend

THE 3rd of four rounds of the RSL Mount Gambier sponsored Summer Cup was contested by 27 women at the Blue Lake Golf Club last week and topping the leaderboard for Division One, after a countback with Josie Ashby, was Sue Agars both signing for 1-up.

Agars played off a 20 handicap and her scorecard consisted of four pluses on the outward nine, a plus on the inward along with nine squared and five pick-ups overall.

Ashby played off 22 scoring four pluses on the outward, two plusses on the inward coupled with seven squared and five pick-ups.

Third was Jaynee Oberer playing off 29 coming in all square to the card that contained seven pluses, four squared and seven pick-ups.

In Division Two it was good competition as the top three players all played of a 38 handicap.

The winner Trudy-Anne Doyle is a regular in the placings and this time was the winner after a countback with Janine Dunn another often in the placings.

Doyle finished with 1-up after three pluses, four squared, three pick-ups on the outward nine and four pluses, two squared, four pick-ups on the inward nine.

Dunn scored seven pluses, four squared and six pick-ups overall followed by Carol Melhuish 4-down forcing a countback with Lyn Annand also 4-down.

Melhuish scored three pluses, eight squared and seven pick-ups.

Nearest to the pin 2nd shot on the 2nd winners were Sue Agars (.17) and Janine Dunn (1.28) and the pro-shot winner was Helen Myers (.17).

Chip-in ferrets were recorded by Sally Houlihan 7th and Myers 10th. The novelty Fairway hits won by Myers and Lynda Nannings.FEBRUARY 14 RESULTS

Twenty-five women teed off in the par competition In fine weather and it was Christie McCourt coming home with the goods shooting a magic 7+ and will be losing a couple of strokes off her 45 handicap when the handicapper catches up with her.

McCourt is relatively new to competition golf and not only did she top the women’s section but also won the overall Jen’s Hotel voucher prize and went into the draw for the monthly par rounds for 2026.

Her card consisted of nine pluses, seven squared and two pick-ups. Mandy Bartholomew continues to play consistently and came in +5 off her 28 handicap posting two pluses and three pick-ups on the outward nine and five pluses on the inward nine.

Second on the podium was Kate Hommelhoff scoring +2 off her 29 handicap.

Her card included eight pluses, six pickups the rest all squared. Bernadette Pedlar followed for third with +1 that Included four pluses, three pick-ups and all other holes squared.

Other placegetters in the ball rundown were Alison Mullan 0, Helen Stratford-1, Jayne Galpin -2, Anita Klem-3 c/b Renae McQuade-3 c/b Lyn Annand-3. Nearest to the pin and the pro-shot winner on the 5th was Ronda Edwards (1.39) BB9 winner was Bartholomew.
