McInnes & Justin take out memorial event
Julie Bagshaw honoured with Canadian Foursomes event at Lucindale Golf Club
Last week 20 Lucindale golfing ladies played in the Julie Bagshaw Canadian Foursomes and enjoyed seeing Vanessa Clarke and a few more familair faces back at the club.
It was about 52 years ago that Julie Bagshaw was involved in a tragic accident in Greece and this memorial golf day in her honour has been part of the club’s competition for the past 46 years. A pewter jug has ackowledged the winners since 1983.
Julie, affectionately known as ‘Bags’, grew up at Avenue Range and was apparently jolly good fun and so this competition is a timely reminder to keep up a great attitude to life.
Ladies patroness Issie Carracher was a great friend of Julie and happily presented prizes on the day. Winners for the day with a nett 79.375 were Fionna McInnes and Michelle Justin, runners-up were Rachel Smith and Megan Watson with approximately half a stroke more.
Nearest to the Pin on the 3rd was Megan Watson whilst the two other par 3 holes remained elusive – strong winds at work?
Congratulations to vice captain Fionna McInnes who was runner-up in the 36+ day held at Mount Gambier earlier this month.
Millicent Open Day is Friday, August 25 and Naracoorte’s Open Day on Friday, September 1. Next week’s competition is a par competition – 3rd round Bricey’s SE Collision Repairs and 2nd Par Round Olympics.
