Millicent crowns its triples champions
Millicent Bowls Club kicks off its annual club championship events
With the sublime spring weather conditions and a well manicured course, there could be no excuses that could be used for the 24 women that played a stableford competition last Wednesday at the Blue Lake Golf Club.
Scores breaking the rating of 36 points rolled in especially in division one and Lee-Anne Medhurst had no trouble posting 39 points from splits of an inward 19 and 20 on the outward nine.
Off a 26 handicap Medhurst recorded pars on the 2nd, 12th and 14th holes partenered with four three-pointers with a scrub on the 10th.
Sue Agars and Karen Panagopoulos both signed for 38 points with splits of 20/18 creating a countback going Agars way with her 20 points on the back nine where countbacks take place.
A good spread of pars on the 3rd and 4th and the 10th, 14th and 17th with a scrub on the 13th clinched 2nd place.
Panagopoulos off 25 was relegated to 3rd with splits of 21/17 that included a par on the dog-leg 9th, three three-pointers and no scrubs.
Another good score of 36 points was posted by division two’s Jaynee Oberer, off a 33 handicap, starting with a four-pointer on the opening hole (1st) combining with four three-pointers and no scrubs on her scorecard just able to nudge out Bev Pascoe who had 35 points with splits of 16/19 that included a par on the par three 5th as well as four three-pointers.
Johanna Gogan off 36 was third on the podium scoring 33 points from three three-pointers, a fourpointer on the par three 14th and scrubs on the 13th and 17th holes.
Nearest to the pin 2nd shot winner’s were Josie Ashby (Div 1) and Gael Ford (Div 2).
The pro-shot was won by Lynette Hirth and a birdie from a chip-in ferret on the 8th won chocolate vouchers for Dianne Perryman. Dianne Allen also had a chip-in ferret on the 18th also winning herself a voucher.
This week is another stableford competition.
OCTOBER 14 RESULTS
Twelve women competed in the par competition with a handful playing to or under their handicap. The winner Karen Coon backing up her previous week’s win with anothet great score signing for 4-up.
Coon has only been a member for a few months and us seeing her handicap starting to quickly drop from 45 to 41 and will drop further once the handicapper catches up with her after this last score.
Her card showed eight plusses, four scrubs and a par on the 16th. Dianne Perryman off 21signed for all square on her scorecard having a birdie on the 9th, par plusses on the 12th, 14th and 18th along with four scrubs.
Helen Stratford also off 21 followed with all square with par’s on the 2nd, 6th and 14th and three scrubs loosing to Perryman on a countback. Nearest to the pin winner was Josie Ashby.
