It was all about the bowlers on day one of the two day Barber Shield fixture between East Gambier and Mil Lel and day two was more of the same as Marc Roberts (5/32) and Emerson Marks (4/15) ripped through the Mil Lel batting line-up with Craig Hicks (26) and Nick Walters (20) the only two Mil Lel bats showing much resistance.

In the end, East Gambier had the upper hand as the Bulldogs now turn their attention to their semi final this weekend against North Sportsman’s.

And speaking of North, they enter the clash with players in form with both bat and ball.

Having knocked over South Gambier on day one for 146, Elliott Fisher and Nick McInerney combined for a 132 fourth wicket partnership that put the game well out of reach.

Fisher compiled a stunning 191 from 187 balls, while McInerney was equally as damaging with 87 from 99.

The pair combined for 28 fours and cleared the boundary 11 times – nine from the bat of Fisher as North powered past South’s modest total.

Veteran Robbie Drenthen was the pick of the South attack, sending down 25 overs for figures of 5/125
West Gambier got the job done comfortably over Penola with Sam Willis (4/17), Justin de Jong (2/20), Sujith Nikethana (2/41) and Bray Stephenson (2/50) all chipping in with wickets.

West Gambier takes on Mil Lel in the other semi final this weekend.

Cox Bros Shield bowler Stephen Just got the job done for Tarpeena with a five wicket haul from his 10 overs, finetuning ahead of this weekend’s semi final against Gambier Centrals.

And he was not the only Tarpeena player showing great form heading into finals weekend with an unbeaten century to Brodie Williams another highlight.

Glencoe’s Matthew Haase is also in good form with the ball ahead of his team’s semi final with Yahl, taking four of the first five Tarpeena wickets on his way to 5/48.
