Mixed pairs champions crowned

PORT MacDonnell Bowls Club held its last championship for the season with the Mixed Pairs sponsored by C & B Schmidt on April 19.

Fourteen teams took to the greens and in the first round George Johnston defeated Dell Parsons, Chris Richards defeated Suzanne Connell, Henk Sprakel defeated David Beaman, Bill Richards defeated Danny Gaut, Bill McGregor lost to Wayne Dowdell and Carol Schmidt lost to Kel Butler.

Second round saw Richards defeat Johnston, Henk Sprakel defeat Bill Richards,Wayne Dowdell defeat Kel Butler and Adam Wilson lost to Keith Dowdell.

The semi finals saw Chris Richards and Judy Grosvenor defeat Henk Sprakel and Keith Dowdell and Jan Dowdell defeat brother Wayne Dowdell to reach the the final against Richards and Grosvenor.

In the final, over 15 ends, Richards and Grosvenor got off to a good start and after seven ends led 11-3 and on the 8th end picked up five shots to led 16-3 and never looked like losing and finished up winning 19-8 to take the title.
