Mount Gambier RSL team takes prestigious fours event

Winners: Tony Bowditch, Daniel Langdon, Ben Masters & Les James

On January 26 the Millicent Bowls Club held its Annual Herb Henderson Memorial Men’s Fours. Twenty-eight teams took part in the games with the first game before lunch played over 15 ends and after a lovely catered lunch the players came out and played another two games over 12 ends.

Teams travelled from as far away as Adelaide to take part in the competition and before going out to play Kym Stewart welcomed all players and then asked long time Millicent member John Buhlmann to lead everyone in the singing the Australian national anthem .

Best team winning for the first game went to a Mt Gambier RSL team of Gary Feast, Rex Heinze, Dean Burgoyne and Harrold Manton with a score of 34 points.

Best second game winners went to a made up team of Wayne Ross, Derrick Lindh, Brad Errock and David Taylor with a score of 31points and best third game winner went to a Millicent team of John Buhlmann, David Crase, Steve Skeer and Alan Correll, with a score of 29.5 points.

Overall winners for the day were a team form Mount Gambier RSL with a score of 88.5 points in Tony Bowditch, Daniel Langdon, Ben Masters and Les James.

Runners up was a mixed team made up of Neil Blakey, John Scudds, Iain Campbell and Brian Vorwerk 85.5 points and in third place was a team from Port MacDonnell – Garry Walters, Brenton Wittwer, Garry Fox and David Beaman 85.0 points.
