Myers cards best score of the day
THE 4th and final round of the yellow marker Short Course Trophy sponsored by Grant and Dianne Perryman attracted 31 women last week at the Blue Lake Golf Club.
With handicaps reduced and set by Golflink there were some very respectable results recorded.
The format was stroke and the score of the day came from Helen Myers nett 63.
The handicap range in division one was (0 -18 ) and Myers played off 10 with 73 gross and in her outward nine of 37 strokes Myers recorded five pars along with another five in the inward 36.
A countback was required with Josie Ashby after her also signing for nett 63 off her 12 handicap. Ashby had three pars and two birdies in her outward 36 strokes and four pars in her inward 39.
Women’s captain Ronda Edwards followed with 79 gross, nett 65 off her 9 handicap. T
here were six pars in the outward 36 strokes with three pars in the inward 38.
The winner in Division Two (19-45) was Trudy Herbert also with a good score of nett 63 off her 19 handicap.
In her outward 40 strokes there were pars on the 3rd, 6th and 7th holes and pars on the 13th and 18th holes in her inward 42 strokes.
Following closely were Lesley McPherson and Beryl Mahoney both signing for nett 64 forcing a countback, with McPherson the eventual second place winner having the better back- nine score.
Her splits of 45/40 included pars on the 3rd, 5th, 10th, 12th and 18th holes. Mahoney 83/19/64 had splits of 40/43 and consolidated her scoring with a run of pars on the 3rd, 5th, 9th, 10th 14th and 18th holes.
Nearest to the pin 2nd shot on the 2nd winners were Josie Ashby (1.04) and Lynette Hirth (.87) and the pro-shot winner on the 5th was Vivienne Wilson (8.50).
Birdies were scored by Dianne Perryman 6th, Ashby 3rd & 6th, Karen Panagopoulos 8th, 10th and 15th, Hirth 8th, Cherryl Hill 9th, Wilson 15th and Sue Agars 18th.
SEPTEMBER 13 RESULTS
A number of good scores were recorded with 27 women playing in the stableford competition in fine spring conditions.
The score of the day was posted by Jayne Galpin after a countback with Karyn Coon after bith signing for 35 points.
Galpin played off a 22 handicap and in her 17/18 splits there were two three-pointers on the front nine followed by three point pars on the 13th, 15th and 16th holes.
Coon played off 39 posting 35 points and after a solid 20 points on the front nine that included a three-point par on the 5th along with a four-pointer on the dog-leg 9th faltering a little on the back- nine scoring only 15 points.
Trudy Herbert was third on the podium signing for 34 points off her 32 handicap, her card included two three-pointers in her 18/16 splits.
Placegetters were Dianne Perryman 32, Annette Ford 30 c/b, Rosemary Martland 30 c/b, Wendy Burley 30 c/b Renae McQuade 30 c/b Josie Ashby 30. Nearest to the pin winner on the 5th was McQuade and BB9 was Martland.
