Myers wins fourth round

WITH a few of the Blue Lake Golf Club women taking extended holidays carrying on from the Easter break numbers were lower than usual for last week’s competitions.

It was the 3rd and final qualifying round for the Handicap Championships with the quarter finals to be played on Wednesday, May 7.

Two best nett scores of the three rounds are used to claim a spot in the top eight qualifiers for Division One and Two.

After a short break division one winner Karen Panagopoulos was all refreshed for the stroke competition signing for nett 69 off her 20 handicap with splits of 45/43 that included pars on the 4th, 5th, 15th and 16th holes finishing three strokes under her handicap and in the minor placings it was vice captain Ronda Edwards also with 88 off the stick nett 71 taking the runner’s up voucher.

Edwards played off a 17 handicap and had four pars in her outward 43 strokes along with another four in her 45 inward strokes.

Third on the podium was Josie Ashby 93/21/72 with splits of 51 and 42 strokes that included pars on the 4th, 12th and 14th and a long chip-in birdie on the dogleg 15th hole.

A pleasing return by Johanna Gogan in Division Two saw her post a nett 72 playing to the scratch rating of 72.

Gogan played off a 38 handicap and had two even nines of 56/54 with a par on the 14th included.

Runners up was Bev Pascoe 104/30/74 one stroke clear of Lee Anderson 112/37/75.

Pascoe had splits of 53/51 and a par on the 14th. Anderson had splits of 54/58 with a highlight chip-in on the 8th second to hardest hole on the ladies index.

Nearest to the pin 2nd shot winner’s on the 2nd hole were Bernadette Pedlar (.68) and Lyn Annand (1.56) with the pro-shot winner on the 5th Cherryl Hill (2.43).

Birdie and chip-in prize to Ashby 15th and other chip-in ferret prizes to Geraldine Scott 5th and 14th, Hill 6th, Rose Case 7th, Anderson 8th and Panagopoulos 12th.

APRIL 26 RESULTS SATURDAY

26th stroke results of 4th round of Jetts Fitness center Mt Gambier summer trophy.

There were some close scores with 23 taking part in the stroke competition that was the fourth round of the Jetts Fitness Centre Mount Gambier Summer Trophy, all vying for a chance to eventually get their name on the Jetts Trophy with only one more round to go.

It was Helen Myers following on from her recent good form in the recent GEM Easter Tournament taking the top honours signing for 87/17/70 playing one stroke under the 71 scratch rating.

Pars were recorded on the 5th, 7th, 13th and 17th holes in her consistent splits of 44/43.

Minor placings went to Kate Brown 105/34/71 playing to her handicap with pars on the 2nd and 5th holes in her splits of 51/54 and Rosemary Martland 86/14/72 after two very even nines of 43/43 scoring pars on 3rd, 8th, 12th and 17th holes.

In the rundown was Kate Hommelhoff nett 73, Bev Pascoe 74 c/b Cherryl Hill.

Nearest to the pin on 5th winner was Geraldine Scott (10.38), long drive winner Karen Panagopoulos and least putts winner Lyn Annand.
