The Port MacDonnell Bowls Club has crowned its club championship fours teams.

The Ladies Championship Fours was sponsored by She’s Apples/J Grosvenor with only three teams contesting the title.

It saw the Heather Richards team take on the Robin Burley combination for the right to play the Del Parsons team for the championship.

The Richards team of Judy Grosvenor, Jan Dowdell and Sheri Richards won through to play Parsons team of Carol Schmidt, Jennie Tilley and Karen Petersen over 15 ends.

In a very even contest and after four ends it was two-all then Richards picked up five shots to lead 7-2.

Over the next three ends Parsons pick up five shots to level the scores seven-all after 10 and it was anybody’s game.

Richards picked up four shots to lead 11-7 with two ends to play.

Parson picked up one shot which left the team chasing three shots on the last end, falling just short to go down 10-11.

In a very entertaining game which could have gone either way, it was back to back for the Richards team.

The Men’s Championship Fours was sponsored by Kevin Paisley Fashion Eyewear/Spiderman SE.

Five teams contested the title with Dave Beaman’s quartet defeating the Kel Butler combination to bring it back to four teams and in the second round action Tim Wrightson’s team defeated Nick Negline and Dave Beaman’s line-up defeated Ian Moulden’s foursome to go through to the final over 15 ends,

The Wrightson team of Wayne Dowdell, Keith Dowdell and Des Horrigan led Beaman’s team of Chris Richards, Phill Wilson and John Broadbent after five ends 4-2 with shots where hard to come by.

Then Beaman got on a roll and won the next five ends to lead 8-4 after 10 ends,

Wrightson picked up five shots on the 11th end to lead 9-8.

The 12th end proved costly for Wrightson, who was holding six shots, before his last bowl just rolled Wilson bowl in for shot.

Wrightson then went down by one the next two ends before each team got two shots each seeing the scores level heading into the last end.

It was shot for shot until Beaman drew within six inches of the jack and Wrightson with his last bowl missed, seeing the Beaman team claim the championship, ending what was a four year reign of the Wrightson team winning the foursomes title.
