O'Donnell claims double victory

The weekend’s competition at the Mount Gambier Golf Club was a stroke round and the final of the Medal of Medals.

This means that the six winners of the monthly medal during the year play off in a final round.

This is sponsored by life member Isobel Phillips who recently turned 101 and is now living in Warrnambool.

Thirty-seven players braved the day with typical spring weather, wind, showers and sun and the winners who competed were two time winner Helen Heaver along with Di O’Donnell, Heather Teakle, Mardi Goodes and Bev Pedlar.

Life member Gloria Lennon sponsored and presented ‘The Winter Salver’ to Di O’Donnell. The Winter Salver is the best score over three Monthly Medals – June, July and August.

RESULTS:

Division 1:Winner: Di O’Donnell nett 69. Di won the day with also winning the Medal of Medals and had a great round with 91 off the stick which included 6 pars and she couldn’t miss a putt!

Runner Up: Penne Saffin nett 76.

Division 2:Winner: Lois Harvey nett 78.

Runner Up: Mary Kentish nett 80

Stableford Winner: Maxine McGregor 33 points.
