Parsons & Hunt combine for victory

Shylie Rymill (nett) winners and runners up: Mardi Goodes, Lorraine Stratford, Heather Barry & Penne Saffin.
LAST Wednesday 21 pairs played in the difficult foursomes format, combining the Club Foursomes Championship and the State Shylie Rymill Foursomes at the Mount Gambier Golf Club.
The Autumn weather was perfect, the course was looking immaculate and the fairways and greens running fast and true.
A play off was needed to arrive at who would be club champions.
Both pairs had 93 off the stick and played holes 1, 2 and 3 before Leanne Hunt/Jess Parsons were declared the champions.
Leanne and Jess had a split of 46/47-93, including six pars and both combined very well and played consistent golf.
Second placing Heather Barry/Penne Saffin were unfortunate to lose in the play off by one stroke.
They also had 93 off the stick with a split of 47/46=93 and had four pars on their scorecard.
The Shylie Rymill Foursomes is a nett competition and was played in conjunction with the Club Foursomes.
First place, winning the Shylie Rymill Medals, were the pairing of Lorraine Stratford/Mardi Goodes (Handicap 26) with 45/54=99=Nett 73. Lorraine and Mardi played the front nine particularly well and pencilled in four pars on their card.
Second place went to Heather Barry/Penne Saffin (Handicap 19) with a split of 47/46=93=Nett 74.
Heather and Penne once again were the bridesmaids and were unlucky to miss out.
The couple played really very consistently and registered four pars in their good score.
Sixteen balls were handed out in the ball rundown and went to the pairings of Marie Douglas/Di Norman Nett 75 down to Betty McKechnie/Gail Stephenson Nett 79.50.
The most fairways hit was 12 by the pairing of Kate McCourt/Linda Boylan. The ProShot for NTP on the Par 3, 8th Hole was won by Vicki Clark/Jan Shanahan.
