What could only be described as an early spring day with still a month of winter to go, the sunshine was a welcome sight last Wednesday for the July monthly medal sponsored by Bev Pascoe in conjunction with the 3rd round of the President’s Trophy sponsored by Scotty’s Loader Services Mt Gambier.

The medal winner was a deserving Dianne Perryman.

The format was stroke and even though the sun was present it was still an icy cold start at the Blue Lake Golf Club.

The course was a long setup and only a few proved their metal playing close to their handicaps.

The course difficulty was classed as +1 with a par 71.

Handicapper Dianne Perryman off a 19 handicap played steady golf signing for 91/19/72 that included a par on the par five third hole in her 47 strokes on the outward nine to add pars on the 10th, 15th and 16th holes in her 44 strokes on the inward nine to finish square to her handicap.

After a few weeks overseas Bev Pascoe was ready for a game of golf and came in a winner in Division Two with 112/33/79 but did have to go to a countback with Vivienne Wilson also signing for nett 79 before taking the top spot.

Besides the course being the longest it can be set the slick greens and some tricky pin placements accolades must go to Perryman and Pascoe both working the flat-stick to perfection to sink 28 putts each to win ball vouchers for their respective divisions.

The nearest to the pin winner was Rosemary Martland (7.94cms) and the pro-shot winner was Helen Myers (1.50cms). Chip-in ferret prizes were won by Pascoe 9th, Richards 11th and 16th, Myers 15th.
