Pink earns another shot
Hard work earns former MSE player a second AFL berth
Toby Pink’s outstanding 2023 season for SANFL premiers Glenelg has been rewarded with a second shot at AFL football.
North Melbourne has signed the former Sydney Swans key defender as a delisted free agent after the 194cm backman earned SANFL Team of the Year selection to go with his premiership medallion.
Pink spent three seasons on the Swans’ rookie list after being initially drafted as a key forward and is actually no stranger to Arden Street, having been signed to the Roos’ VFL team ahead of the COVID-cancelled 2020 season.
Head of football talent Brady Rawlings welcomed Pink to North Melbourne, saying that he’s worked hard to win another opportunity at AFL level.
“We’ve tracked Toby really closely, especially over the past 12 months,” Rawlings said.
“He was the dominant defender in Glenelg’s premiership run all season and he played a big role in helping them achieve their success.
“It’s been a long time since Toby was in the AFL system but he’s clearly worked hard on all aspects of his game – he’s really earned this chance.”
