Millicent golfers take out Tri Challenge on home course
The third and final round of the Tri Challenge event between Millicent, Blackwood and Loxton Golf Clubs was played at Millicent on the October Long weekend.
Now in its 22nd year, the event was played in perfect weather conditions and on the course superbly presented by the many volunteers.
Hit off was a shotgun start at 12noon, with 69 golfers playing a stableford competition.
Millicent’s team of 10 who returned the best scores of the day were Heather Anderson 40, Trevor Atkinson 38, Andy Varcoe, 37, Annie MacLennan 37, Ken McIntyre 37, Kathy Webber 37, Debbie Tincknell 37, Mark Pretty 36, Ron Hateley 36 and Terry Chant 35, a combined score of 370 which was announced as the best team score of the day.
Blackwood’s team was runner up with a score of 324, leading the way for Blackwood were Trish White 35, Chris Lemm 35, Brad Harrison 35, David Lewis 33, Val Lough 32, Peter Schapel 32, Margo Wilson 32, Chris St John Sweeting 30, Kaye Lewis 30 and Ben Carter 30.
Loxton’s team scored 306 points and the top 10 scores came from Dean Peberdy 36, Janice Sawade 35, Sue Pannel 34, Graham McInnes 31, John Reynolds 31, Peter Harman 30, Julie Cooney 30, Alan Ling 29, Di Harman 27 and Kim Martin 23.
The previous two rounds of the Tri Challenge were played at Blackwood in March and Loxton in June. Points from those two rounds were tallied with those at Millicent and overall Millicent won the Tri Challenge by one point from Blackwood – 1036 to 1035, Loxton coming in third with 913.
A prize was awarded to the individual player who had accumulated the most stableford points over all three rounds, the women’s prize being won by Heather Anderson, from Millicen, with 100 and the men’s prize won by Brad Harrison, from Blackwood, with 108.
Prizes were also awarded to a man and woman from each club who had the highest scores
