Scott reigns supreme

September 7, 2024 BY

In what could only be described as atrocious windy conditions last Wednesday, 23 women braved the elements to compete in the August Monthly Medal coinciding with the 3rd round of the President’s Trophy sponsored by Scotty’s Loader Services Mt Gambier at the Blue Lake Golf Club. The daily degree of difficulty was classed as +2 by GOLF Link.

The format was stroke and it was Geraldine Scott coming in to win the Monthly Medal sponsored by Bev Pascoe.

Scott also won the top club voucher in Division One after a countback from Rosemary Martland, both signing for nett 75.

Scott backing up her win from the previous Saturday presented a reasonable card in the trying conditions as well as the long course set-up.

Her 102 strokes off a 27 handicap saw splits of 55/47 five over on the outward nine recovering to score one over on the inward nine and got her over the line in the countback from Martland who registered 89/14/75, her splits of 44/45 included pars on the 2nd, 3rd, 14th and 15th holes.

Third placegetter was Helen Myers scoring well off her 19 handicap posting 96/77 with pars on the 5th and 11th.

Bev Pascoe was the winner in Division Two after signing for 115/33/82.

Her outward nine score of 62 strokes, 10 over, would have had her almost giving up but she soldiered on to then score 53 on the inward nine, nine strokes better.

Runner up Janine Dunn would have been thinking the same after her 120/35/85 also had too much red ink on the outward nine of 64 strokes compared to 56 strokes on the inward nine.

Third on the podium after a countback with Dunn was Lucy Richards signing for 119/34/85 with even splits of 59/60.

Nearest to the pin winners on the 2nd were Martland (.20cm) and Beryl Mahoney (1.75cm).

Lesley McPherson was the pro-shot winner on the 5th (9.25cm).

Novelty prizes winners for least putts were Myers 29 and Dunn 33. Chip-in ferrets Dianne Allen 2nd, Sue Agars 3rd, Kristy Janeway 5th and Rose Case 16th.

AUGUST 24 RESULTS

With the weather holding for the stroke competition 17 women teed off and the scores were indicative of the long course setup for the men’s monthly medal along with some tricky pin placements, once again the degree of course difficulty was +2.

The best of the scores came from Geraldine Scott 87/27/76 collecting the top voucher.

Splits of 51/52 included pars on the 5th and 15th holes.

Runner up was Lyn Annand signing for 113/35/77 with consistent nines of 56/57.

Karen Panagopoulos finished third with 101/22/79, splits of 49/52.

Placegetters were Bev Pascoe, Cherryl Hill and Lesley McPherson all nett 80.

Nearest to the pin winner on the 5th was Rosemary Martland, the long drive winner was Kate Hommelhoff with least putts prize going to Bev Pascoe.
