Seaside club championship decided
Port MacDonnell Bowling club held its Men’s and Ladies Triples Championships at the weekend.
The men’s event was sponsored by The Bug Man/GJ McEachern & Associates with eight teams taking on the challenge, while the ladies event was sponsored by Dollar Curtains/Green Triangle Livestock, with six team fighting it out for the title.
The weather saw a late start to the day’s play.
First round saw the Tim Wrightson combination defeat the Justin Brown team, Terry Seiler’s group defeat Dave Beaman’s team, Nick Negline and his team defeat Ian Moulden’s line-up and Adam Wilson’s team defeat Lindsay Moyle’s combination.
Second round saw Tim Wrightson defeat Terry Seiler and Nick Negline defeat last year’s winner Adam Wilson to progress to the final, which was to be played over 18 ends.,
Tim Wrightson team included Wayne Dowdell and Keith Dowdell and they proved too strong for Nick Negline, Danny Gaut and George Johnson.
Negline scored one on the first end then Wrightson scored 14 shots by the 8th end and by the 18th end took out the championship 22-11
In the first round of the ladies competition Heather Richards defeated Jennie Tilley and Del Parsons defeated Sharon Perryman.
The second round saw Heather Richards defeat Robin Burley and Del Parsons defeat Nell Lucas to progress to the 18 end final .
The team of Heather Richards, Judy Grosvenor and Sheri Richards took on Del Parsons and her team of Carol Schmidt and Julie Beaman with the Parsons team getting off to a good start to lead 5-0 after three ends.
The Richards team then secured eight shots in the next six ends to lead 8-5 and after 14 ends still led 11-8 and after a tight tussle ran out winners 13-10.
