Shoot offs needed to decide winners
THE Mount Gambier Gun Club held its monthly competition on March 8 in fine and hot conditions
The dedicated shooters braved the sweltering conditions to obtain some high scores and shoot offs were needed in all events to ascertain the winners,
The opening event was the ‘Nutrien AG Solutions 25 Tgt Double Barrel Championship’.
Seven shooters scored a perfect 25/25 and after shoot offs Gavin Height 68/68 won AA from Warren Lindner 67/68 and Lincoln Brown 49/49 just outshot Trevor Smith 48/49 to win A grade.
Brian Smith 29/30 just won B from Wally Wombwell 28/30, whilst James McKinnon33/36 just edged out Peter Klieve 32/36 to win C.
The ‘South East VETS 25 Tgt Pointscore Championship’ was up next and this event was exceptionally well shot with Tom Jenkins showing his skills with the only perfect 75/75.
He won AA from Max Medhurst 78/81, Steve Chambers 74/75 shared A grade with Lisa Hawker 74/75, Bob Atkinson 72/75 won B from Hayden Megaw 71/75 and junior Cooper Dodson 70/75 in fine form won C from Wayne Evans 69/75.
The ‘Barry Maney Group 25 Pair Club Double Rise Championship’ finished the competitions of this hot day and shoot offs were needed again.
Jamie Dunn, with 62/70 after a shoot off, won overall honors and AA from Harry Brown 61/70, Tom Jenkins 43/50 won A from Max Medhurst 51/60, Warren Lindner 42/50 won B from Andrew Hoare 41/50 and after a shoot off Andrew Reid 49/60 just outshot Bob Atkinson 47/60 to win C grade.
The South East Autotrade Highgun award over the three events was won by Tom Jenkins (pictured above right being congratulated by Jamie Dunn) with a score of 142/150
The club has practice every Friday afternoon and the next competition is Sporting Clays on Sunday, March 30.
