South East wins rescheduled match
LAST Monday the postponed Challenge Match between SE Vets and Glenelg was played at Millicent.
It had been postponed because of gale force winds on May 26, and on August 4 the field also had blustery conditions, but thankfully without rain, which arrived after play.
The SE had 53 players and Glenelg 26, and so the Shield was decided in favour of the home side, 21.96 to their 18.46.
First Division was won by Mt Gambier’s Chris Price on a countback with 34 from Alan Schultz, and then Terry Chant of Millicent, 33.
Division 2 winner was Anthony Moore of Casterton, with 35, from Ron Hately 33, and David Dowie 32.
Division 3 went to Alex Juokoff, Blue Lake 35, from Derek Bowering, Beachport 32, and ‘Tank’ Thompson, Millicent 31.
The ball rundown was for 26 or better and the NTPs went to Wally Stephen, Neil Quirk, Alex Juokoff and Ian Dick.
The prized Ross Orchard Trophy was shared by Kym Sutherland, David Beness, and Graham Hausler of Hamilton, who played with Rob Sims, and then counted him out.
Rob was going for four in a row, and was really disappointed, but happy for Graham.
On August 11, the veterans will visit Blue Lake and then Mt Gambier on August 25, before back to Millicent on September 8
